This Serapi shows a broad rust-red field with a cream stepped central medallion and blue spandrels, articulated by small floral rosettes and a profiled floral border. Woven in wool, the surface exhibits gentle abrash and a mellow pile that reveals its timeworn hand, yet the condition is low distress with intact fringes and restrained wear. The interplay of cream, teal and neutral tones creates a measured, tactile presence. This antique rug measures 279 x 442 cm and reads as a considered study in colour and form. Circa 1885 - 1905.
