This Sultanabad antique rug measures 343 x 465 cm and reflects the quietly layered character associated with the form. Its wool field is filled with repeating floral rosettes and scrolling ornament, enclosed by a narrow inner frame and a soft red border that still holds the composition together. Medium distress, fading, and subtle abrash have softened the palette into blue-grey, brown, beige, and muted rust, creating a calm, weathered surface. Circa 1900 - 1930, it has the poised, timeworn presence of a piece shaped by use and age rather than sharp contrast.
