This Sultanabad is a generously scaled wool example, 318 x 437 cm, its faded red field laid with large palmettes and a scrolling vine border in cream and neutral tones. The surface shows medium wear and soft abrash that has mellowed the original contrasts into a subtle, almost watercolour quality. Broad, painterly motifs remain legible despite gentle losses and edge rubbing; the overall effect is tactile and quietly historic. An antique rug that reads as both drawing and textile, with a calm, aged presence in wool. Circa 1900 - 1920
