This antique Sultanabad in wool, 320 x 396 cm, presents a calm, antique-aged colour range across an allover lattice of geometric medallions and floral rosettes. A mellow ivory ground sets off soft navy, rose, olive and muted terracotta that have faded to a nuanced palette. A broad floral main border with multiple guard stripes frames the centre, while even abrash and gentle thinning give the surface a velvety patina; edges are slightly irregular in keeping with age. The design remains clear though softened by time, revealing measured wear and craft. Circa 1900 - 1915 This antique rug retains a considered, tactile character.
