This Sultanabad antique rug in wool measures 396 x 594 cm and carries a deeply mellowed field of floral motifs, softened by age into an easy, lived-in rhythm. Neutral beige, brown, rust red, and muted terracotta shape the composition, while the floral border and narrow guard bands create a clear frame around the densely worked centre. Visible distress and fading have mellowed the drawing, giving the rug a layered, tactile presence. Circa 1895 - 1920. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
