This Sultanabad antique rug in wool measures 419 x 472 cm and carries the expansive proportions and ornate drawing associated with the style. Its red ground is visibly mellowed, framed by a deep navy border filled with flowering vines, palmettes, and rosette motifs in cream, teal, and warm gold. The central field reads softly from age, with the design gently blurred in places and the overall tone brought down by wear. Circa 1910 - 1935, it has the composed, layered presence of an antique rug, where faded colour and timeworn detail work together with quiet depth.
