This Sultanabad antique rug measures 384 x 498 cm and presents a subdued, richly timeworn palette of blue, burgundy, neutral, and purple. The composition is organised around an all-over floral field, with an ornamental border of scrolling blossoms and vine motifs still visible despite pronounced distress. Fading and abrasion have softened the drawing, giving the surface a hazy depth and a quietly textured character. Circa 1920 - 1935, it reflects the generous scale and layered ornament associated with Sultanabad weaving, now translated through a distinctly aged and muted finish. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
