An expansive Sultanabad in wool, 384 x 411 cm, its central field a dense all-over floral lattice of palmettes and scrolling vine, set within a broad crimson border of gilt palmettes. The colour balance leans to muted red, warm brown and antique gold with subtle blue and ivory points that have softened with age. Low wear and gentle abrash keep motifs legible while introducing a refined patina. This antique rug presents considered scale and layered detail, a tactile expression of regional design sensibility.
