An understated Sultanabad in wool, this antique rug is 376 x 607 cm and presents a soft brown wash with ivory and pale grey abrash that mutes the original floral field. A restrained running border of palmettes and vine motifs frames the centre, its detail mellowed by time. High distress across the surface yields a tactile, low-relief texture with pile attenuation and softened edges, emphasising the fibre and the hand of the maker. The piece reads as a heritage textile whose patina is integral to its presence. Circa 1915 - 1930
