This Kazak antique rug measures 145 x 190 cm and carries a restrained yet expressive palette of deep blue, faded red, ivory, and sand. The design centres on a stepped medallion, with angular floral and latch-hook motifs arranged in a disciplined, folk-inspired composition. Framing borders introduce sawtooth geometry and small border details that give the field a defined edge. Circa 1885 - 1900, the wool pile shows low distress, honest wear, and softened colour, allowing the rug’s graphic character and aged surface to read with quiet clarity. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
