This Kazak presents as an antique rug of considered restraint; three octagonal medallions occupy a deep red field softened by cream and neutral tones. The wool fibre retains a soft handle and shows low wear, motifs remaining clear while slight abrash and surface mellowing give a tactile, historic presence. Stepped geometric crosses and a lively guard border form a compact, rhythmic composition, the cream centre medallion providing measured contrast to the surrounding reds. Measures 188 x 284 cm. Circa 1880 - 1900 The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
