This Kazak runner in wool presents as an antique rug with a calm, collected presence. Three octagonal medallions sit along a deep indigo ground, their salmon and rust centres set against ivory geometric hooks and a serrated lozenge border. The palette of blue, red and neutral colour has mellowed to a harmonious abrash; pile shows low wear and a softly tactile surface. The geometry is direct and tribal, the borders finely stepped and rhythmic, suggesting hand-led design and long use. A subtle patina completes the piece. Circa 1885 - 1900. Size: 114 x 264 cm.
