Gharabah in wool, this antique rug presents a painterly scatter of oversized blooms on a warm red ground. Clouds of pink, blue-grey and yellow sit against a narrow ochre guard and a dark floral vine border, the design held together by a calm rhythm. The piece displays low wear and a soft surface with gentle abrash that enriches the colour transitions and tactile appeal. The borders and field read like a sustained floral study, the palette restrained yet lively. Circa 1890 - 1910. Size 137 x 249 cm describes the rug’s elongated, runner-like proportions.
