A Kashan of refined restraint, this antique rug presents a cream ground warmed by faded coral and pale aqua accents across an allover palmette and arabesque repeat. At 264 x 381 cm the repeating floral centres and multiple guard borders sit in a quietly worn field where medium distress and subtle abrash create a layered surface texture. The wool fibre shows a soft, aged lustre and the borders are gently softened rather than harshly worn. The overall impression is one of considered age and tactile nuance. Circa 1900 - 1915
