This Kashan in wool is an antique rug measuring 320 x 462 cm, centred on a formal medallion surrounded by a dense field of palmettes, vines and arabesque motifs. The palette balances warm red and soft gold against a neutral ground with deep navy accents; borders are worked in refined floral registers and multiple guard bands. Wear is low and even, with subtle abrash and mellowed highlights that lend a tactile, powdery hand to the pile. Circa 1900 - 1950, the work reads as a considered example of traditional craft, restrained colour and composed rhythm.
