This Khotan antique rug measures 71 x 130 cm and shows a strong red field set against brown and neutral borders. Its layout is elegant and structured, with paired medallions, floral sprays, and crisp corner devices that anchor the composition from end to end. Around the field, a finely worked border introduces scrolling ornament and small floral accents, lending contrast to the more geometric centre. The wool pile has low distress, with softened colour and light wear that preserve the rug’s character without overwhelming the design. Circa 1950 - 1965, it reflects the restrained ornament and layered palette associated with Khotan weaving.
