This Afshar antique rug measures 130 x 150 cm and has the rooted, expressive presence associated with the type. A vivid red ground is set with a strong navy central medallion, scattered floral and boteh-like motifs, and smaller geometric details in ivory, purple, and deep blue. The multiple borders frame the composition with rhythm and order, while the field shows gentle fading and low wear that soften the palette. Circa 1930 - 1955, it balances structure and warmth, with a wool surface that reads tactile, timeworn, and distinctly individual. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
