This Khotan antique rug measures 196 x 401 cm and presents a calm, age-softened palette of indigo, sand, taupe and muted brown. A deep blue central field is organised around stacked medallions, floral rosettes and crisp Greek key borders, with a slender outer guard carrying scrolling motifs. The wool pile shows medium distress, including visible fading, abrasion and worn edges that soften the pattern’s contrasts. Circa 1880 - 1900, this Khotan rug combines ornamental order with an understated, timeworn surface, giving the design a grounded, collected character. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
