This Khotan antique rug measures 157 x 292 cm and has a calm, weathered elegance. A deep, muted ground is set within pale inner borders and a faded outer frame in brick red, taupe and olive, while the central field carries layered floral and scrolling motifs that appear softened by age. The overall effect is richly textural, with medium distress enhancing the rhythm of the design and the sense of history in the wool. Circa 1900 - 1930, it offers the restrained ornament and faded depth associated with Khotan rugs.
