This Khotan antique rug, 196 x 396 cm, is composed with an elongated central field, a pale medallion, and finely worked borders that frame the design with measured symmetry. Woven in wool, it has a tactile, time-softened surface where cream, faded red, and muted blue settle into a darker ground. The drawing reads as layered and orderly, yet gently worn, with visible age giving the motifs a quiet density. Circa 1900 - 1915, it shows medium distress and a balanced patina that emphasises its heritage character. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
