This Khotan antique rug, measuring 137 x 318 cm, offers a long, vertical composition worked in faded indigo, terracotta, and warm neutral tones with accents of muted gold. A central medallion-and-panel arrangement is surrounded by floral rosettes, geometric frames, and a lively border that alternates scrolling detail with small ornament. Woven in wool and showing low distress, the surface has softened with age, allowing the colours to settle into a calm, layered palette. Circa 1900 - 1915, it reflects the measured elegance and decorative character associated with Khotan weaving. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
