This Khotan antique rug measures 147 x 282 cm and carries a deep red and pink field, lifted by cream and white borders that temper the overall warmth. The composition is anchored by a vertical line of medallions, with geometric corner brackets, floral details, and a layered border system that gives the piece a considered rhythm. Woven in wool and showing low distress, it retains a soft, timeworn surface with lightly worn edges and a mellowed finish. Circa 1900 - 1915, it reads as collected and atmospheric, with the sort of faded restraint that gives an antique rug its lasting character.
