This Khotan antique rug measures 211 x 391 cm and carries a pale grey-beige ground lifted by coral red, cream, and muted gold details. Its open field is scattered with delicate floral and geometric motifs, then organised by three round medallions and a series of framed borders, including a lively outer band with scrolling hooks and blossom forms. Woven in wool, the surface has a soft, worn hand and medium distress that gently blurs the pattern. Circa 1920 - 1935, it reflects the composed elegance often found in Khotan designs, with age and fading giving the rug a layered, understated presence.
