This Khotan runner (79 x 391 cm) reads as a long field of cream and neutral with recurring red rosettes set into an angular, tree-like medallion repeat. Woven in wool, the colours have softened with medium distress and warm abrash across the pile, while visible seam repairs and worn ends attest to age and use. A narrow red meander border frames the disciplined geometric lattice, lending a tactile, architectural presence. Circa 1900 - 1915. This antique rug holds the material traces of craft and long domestic life. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
