Sivas in wool, an antique rug characterised by a procession of stepped medallions and a dense field of small pictorial and floral devices. The muted neutrals and brown grounds are balanced with cream and white accents, producing a considered, tactile colour range. Narrow guard borders carry repeating lozenge bands and a compact outer frame that complements the central medallion chain. Wear is low and the surface has a calm, even patina. Circa 1925 - 1940. Dimensions 137 x 221 cm, the rug reads as a study in restrained pattern and materiality, quietly measured and craft-forward.
