This Khotan reads as an exercise in pale, timeworn colour; the wool fibre is worn low, revealing medallion traces and palmette fragments like a gentle palimpsest. The softened floral border and scattered motif fragments sit within a neutral, cream field punctuated by subtle blue-green abrash. Heavy distress, visible repairs and surface thinning give layered depth and a tactile, low-relief surface. Circa 1880 - 1900. Measurements: 269 x 518 cm. An antique rug with restrained composure and an almost architectural quiet. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
