Needle Point. This petite antique rug measures 48 x 53 cm and features a floral medallion within an oval laurel reserve, bordered by ribboned sprays and a scalloped bobble edge. A cream ground is warmed by muted blue, sage and dusky rose details in wool, the surface softened by medium wear and natural abrash that speak to long use and handwork. The composition reads like a miniature embroidered panel, its subdued colourway and mellow texture emphasising the material craft. Circa 1885 - 1900. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
