An austere Afghan in warm brown and cream, this antique rug presents a considered, tactile surface. Repeating geometric guls form a disciplined allover, relieved by star-like fillers and a chained, multi-strand border. The wool fibre shows medium wear and a soft abrash that gives the field a lived-in depth; the cream guls retain clean contrast against the mellow brown. Circa 1900 - 1950. Measures 140 x 231 cm and holds a textured patina that speaks to handcraft and years of quiet use. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
