A softly faded field defines this Khotan, its stepped-diamond lattice and small floral medallions in muted red, cream and neutral tones. The wool fibre sits low and tactile, the surface showing even, medium distress that allows pattern and colour to breathe through a veil of age. Multiple guard borders contain restrained geometric motifs; subtle abrash and gentle edge wear speak to long use and careful handling. The Khotan design vocabulary reads measured and tactile, an antique rug with a quiet, considered presence. It measures 269 x 528 cm. Circa 1900 - 1920
