A quietly refined Khotan in wool, 168 x 345 cm, this rug shows a muted neutral field centred by a worn medallion and scattered geometric-floral motifs. The principal border, its hooked-scroll motif rendered in warm brown and cream, contains the composition while subtle abrash and medium wear soften edges and pattern. The pile is low and tactile, the surface reading as layered colour and faded pigments; the piece carries the calm presence of an antique rug with a restrained, vernacular grammar.
