This Khotan is an antique rug woven in wool, the muted neutral ground set with coral-red motifs and cream highlights. Repeated stylised floral clusters and vertical tasselled forms organise the field, contained by a coral guard border with geometric cartouches and a narrow meander band. The piece shows medium wear and soft abrash that mellow the palette and emphasise a lived-in surface texture. The overall effect is quiet, tactile and refined, with a history visible in each faded motif. Circa 1885 - 1915. Size: 198 x 394 cm. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
