A muted Kerman in wool, the design reads as ivory and beige washes with tan and brown outlines, softened by age. Paired palmettes, boteh elements and sinuous floral vines form a formal central field, bordered by an ornate paisley frieze where abrash and medium wear have unified the tones. The pile remains tactile and gently compressed, the edges characterful with light fringe wear. This 91 x 178 cm antique rug shows the disciplined drawing of Kerman with a worn, lived-in surface that emphasises texture and craft. Circa 1885 - 1900.
