A Bakhshaish in a clear sky blue ground, punctuated by terracotta and neutral medallions, woven in wool with an assured compositional balance. The all-over pattern of palmettes and geometric florals is framed by a broad red guard border; colours show a pleasing mellowing and gentle abrash across the field. Low levels of wear preserve the pattern crispness and a soft tactile surface, giving the antique rug a measured, crafted presence. Circa 1850 - 1870. Size: 300 x 373 cm. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
