This Bakhshaish runner is woven in wool with an ivory ground enlivened by coral borders and turquoise highlights. A repeated hexagonal lattice holds stylised palmettes and hooked boteh motifs, the design mellowed by soft abrash and restrained wear. Overall condition is low distress, the surface retaining a tactility that reads as lived-in rather than overworked. The balanced, muted colour-way and narrow geometric border give the piece a considered, crafted presence. Circa 1885 - 1900. This antique rug measures 152 x 323 cm and exemplifies a quietly aged aesthetic in fine wool fibre.
