This Farahan Sarouk, sized 376 x 505 cm, is an antique rug defined by an elongated central medallion and a fine scrolling floral ground in red, gold and neutral tones. The wool pile shows low, even wear with soft abrash that animates the field and a gently mellowed palette. Multiple floral guard borders, rendered in dark navy and cream, contain tight botanical motifs and palmettes. The weave speaks to practiced regional workshop craft; the surface has gathered a warm patina without heavy restoration. It retains a supple hand and a tactile, low-profile surface. Circa 1885 - 1900
