A refined Farahan Sarouk in wool, this antique rug measures 437 x 653 cm. A dark medallion sits within a warm neutral ground, its arabesques, palmettes and scrolling vines picked out in red and brown across the field and borders. Wear is low and consistent, the pile showing gentle mellowing of dyes and subtle abrash that deepen the surface colour. Borders retain clear pattern and presence, giving the piece a composed, tactile character that speaks to skilled handwork. Circa 1895 - 1925. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
