A Farahan Sarouk in wool, 257 x 366 cm, defined by a central medallion and a regimented vine of palmettes that march through the field. The dominant red is tempered by neutral and gold accents, with navy and pale blue enlivening the floral vocabulary. Low distress and gentle abrash preserve a supple, tactile surface and clear border definition. The layered border with star-like rosettes and corner cartouches gives the design a measured, classical balance. This antique rug reads as an early 20th century work with strong, deliberate drawing and rich, natural dyes. Circa 1900 - 1920
