This Farahan Sarouk presents an expansive red field enlivened by a repeating floral lattice and palmette motifs, set within an ivory main border decorated with floral cartouches. Brown and white accents with touches of muted blue articulate the design; ageing has produced soft abrash and gentle fading that enhance the surface texture. Wool construction shows low wear and a considered, tactile patina across generous proportions of 320 x 406 cm. Circa 1880 - 1900. The piece reads as an antique rug of formal restraint, where colour and hand combine to subtle effect.
