A generously proportioned Khotan composed around three rounded medallions set in a warm red field, accented by small floral and geometric motifs and a series of narrow guard borders in cream and pink. The wool pile is in low distress, the colours mellowed with pleasing abrash and a soft, tactile surface that reveals age without heavy loss. This antique rug retains a calm, measured presence, its motifs breathing within generous negative space and careful border work. Circa 1880 - 1900. Measurements: 282 x 523 cm. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
