A substantial Kerman woven in wool, 427 x 610 cm, with an ivory ground and a softly faded blue border. The allover floral arabesque reads in delicate, minute motifs that have been worn to creamy neutrals and pale blue-grey abrash. High distress and even pile loss give the surface a well-travelled texture, the border holding stronger colour as a calm frame. The sense is of quiet age and artisanal restraint; the rug’s fibre has softened and the design breathes through layers of time. This antique rug evokes an understated heritage. Circa 1885 - 1915
