An understated Khotan in faded red and neutral colour, built around stepped diamond medallions and an allover scatter of small floral and geometric motifs. A pale guard and patterned outer border contain the field, while the wool pile is softened by medium distress and even abrash that warms the brown outlines. The generous dimensions of 201 x 411 cm accentuate the medallion rhythm and the tactile surface of handworked wool. This antique rug reads as a quietly aged piece with calm presence and restrained colour. Circa 1910 - 1930 The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
