A substantial Bakhshaish in wool, 335 x 422 cm, characterised by a rich red centre and a strong indigo border framing a floral medallion. The layout pairs broad, painterly field areas with defined spandrels and a banded floral border; the palette reads red, navy, warm brown and cream. Low distress and gentle abrash lend a soft, tactile surface that reveals subtle shifts in colour and age. The antique rug retains clarity of design while the pile shows a quiet, even wear that enhances its historic presence. Circa 1880 - 1900.
