An expansive Sivas in a muted neutral register, this antique rug unfolds like a faded garden of palmettes, vines and small blooms arranged into a tightly detailed field. The wool fibre gives a soft, tactile hand and a subtle satiny sheen. Medium, even wear and layered abrash have mellowed the contrasts, while darker brown outlines still articulate the border and corner spandrels against cream and beige grounds. Measuring 277 x 460 cm, the scale feels generous and the composition reads as a calm, luminous plane shaped by time. Circa 1880 - 1920.
