The 305 x 396 cm field reveals an all-over floral arabesque of palmettes and scrolling vines, worn into a tactile, tonal surface; high distress and subtle abrash have refined the pattern into layered passages. The navy floral guard borders provide a composed counterpoint to the faded centre while the wool fibre retains a warm hand. Circa 1895 - 1915.
