This Agra is a large wool antique rug, 358 x 538 cm. The field presents as a muted, neutral palette with pale rose and cream tones, articulated by an all-over palmette and vine composition; small rosettes punctuate the repeat. A deep navy guard border with scrolling foliage provides a measured frame. Surface abrash and even wear have given the wool fibre a soft, satin patina; the medium distress reads as lived-in refinement. Circa 1900 - 1920.
