An intimate Sivas in wool, this antique rug reveals a tree of life centre rendered in softened rose and neutral colour, threaded with sage leaves and small birds. The flowering field and peacock motifs are framed by a deep olive border of foliate cartouches; overall colour is mellowed by gentle abrash and low wear. Circa 1915 - 1930. At 127 x 180 cm the piece retains a tactile pile and a hand-drawn sensibility, a quietly heritage presence whose considered palette invites close, tactile appreciation.
