Esfahan, 145 x 198 cm, presents a compact central ivory medallion within a warm red field punctuated by brown outlines and neutral cream tones. The wool fibre shows low distress and a calm abrash that lends a tactile, mellow surface. Floral arabesques and stylised palmettes run through narrow guard stripes into a deeper outer border, the overall composition kept measured and refined. Subtle pale highlights give occasional relief to the dominant reds while the borders retain clear design definition. This antique rug reads as a well-preserved example of classic Esfahan expression. Circa 1890 - 1910.
