This Mallayer antique rug measures 147 x 328 cm and presents a layered geometric field softened by years of visible wear. Repeating medallion forms and a diamond lattice create structure across the surface, framed by a narrow floral border that remains legible despite heavy distress. Neutral, brown, and muted green tones are tempered by rust red details, with extensive fading and abrasion lending a pale, weathered quality. Circa 1880 - 1900, it offers the tactile depth and restrained ornament associated with an aged Mallayer, where pattern and patina sit in careful balance.
