This Mallayer antique rug measures 91 x 521 cm, with a long, narrow format and a quietly architectural sense of balance. A deep teal field supports a vertical chain of medallion forms, each softened by time into layers of taupe, ivory, muted blue, and rust. The border is more densely worked, giving the composition a grounded frame while the centre remains open and rhythmic. Visible abrasion and fading lend the piece a dry, timeworn character. Circa 1915 - 1930, it carries the restrained elegance and subtle irregularity that define a well-aged Mallayer.
