This Mallayer antique rug measures 236 x 589 cm and carries a long, composed field of floral latticework within a narrow, patterned border. Dark brown and navy notes settle against ivory, muted rose, olive, and gold, creating a layered surface with a quiet sense of age. Repeated medallion shapes run through the centre, while the dense background pattern keeps the design intricate from end to end. Circa 1900 - 1920, the rug shows medium distress, with softened colour, visible wear, and a gently timeworn finish. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
